英语主语单数是什么意思的

在英语中，作主语的是名词或相当于名词的词（代词、动名词、动词不定式、主语从句） 一般可数名词和人称代词才有有单复数之分 其他做主语的都是单数主语。

例如：I am hungry.（单数）Both my brother and I are hungry. We are hungry(复数）。

另外， 一些特殊结构对单复数有特别的规定： 就近原则： Neither my brother nor I am hungry.(单数，以第二个主语决定谓语的数） There are three cats and a dog in the room./ There is a dog and three cats in the room
